Use the links below to download complete student registers for the University of California and many private California universities. These records span the late 19th century to 1946. The files are separated by campus and level (undergrad or graduate), with 14 databases and more than 750 thousand records in all (one record per student per year of enrollment). All data are stored in comma-separated files. In addition to our processed databases, you’ll also find links to the universities’ (raw) scanned student registers.

Note: These databases were produced using the formatted optical character recognition (fOCR) protocol developed by UC-CHP, which computationally processes scanned books into computer-readable databases. The resulting output is somewhat error-prone. Please see Bleemer (2018) for details on the construction and quality of these data.
