Use the links below to download faculty databases for each of three University of California campuses, as well as Stanford. There are nearly 60,000 total faculty members listed for the four campuses–about two-thirds of whom are ladder-ranked–with annual information listing their departments, rank, and extraneous information. All data are stored in comma-separated files. The ID numbers assigned to each faculty member correspond to the ‘Prof1’ and ‘Prof2’ fields available in the campus course databases, enabling users to link faculty members to the courses they taught each year (in some cases). These records were obtained from faculty lists published in campuses’ annual course catalogs (published as front material for each academic department; academics in multiple departments are double-counted), and you will also find links to those scanned course catalogs below.
Note: These databases were produced using the formatted optical character recognition (fOCR) protocol developed by UC-CHP, which computationally processes scanned books into computer-readable databases. The resulting output is somewhat error-prone. Please see Bleemer (2018) for details on the construction and quality of these data.
